Through the use of cool air flow given by the engine fan, the condenser cools the hot gas and metamorphosizes it to a liquid. The liquid is not completely cooled but much more that when it leaves the a/c compressor. Thus, its function is to radiate heat. The a/c condenser is your answer to filtering out many of the small contaminants which enter the a/c compressor eventually.
